A actriz Angela Cartwright foi viver para os E.U.A aos 3 anos de idade onde trabalhou como modelo em anúncios e revistas, tendo posteriormente seguido a carreira de actriz em filmes como: Lost in Space, The Sound of Music, Beyond the Poseidon Adventures e em inúmeras séries televisivas.
SWCP: Com apenas três anos de idade estreou-se no filme `Somebody up there likes me´ como filha do Paul Newman. Consegue recordar-se de alguma coisa nesse filme?
A.C: Só tinha ainda 3 anos quando entrei nesse filme e só me apercebi mais tarde como tinha sido fixe ter contracenado com o Paul como sua filha. Outra coincidência foi que este foi o meu 1º primeiro filme e que foi dirigido pelo Robert Wise que depois me lançou no filme `The Sound of Music´no papel de Brigitta.
SWCP: Em 1981 escreveu um livro que foi muito aclamado intitulado ´My book: A Child´s First Journal´. Foi um livro dedicado à sua infância?
A.C: Escrevi este livro quando estava grávida da minha filha Becca. Foi um livro para quem foi pai e tem muitos espaços para preencher com memórias das crianças e com fotografias.
SWCP: É também pintora e fotógrafa. Que tipo de trabalhos faz?
A.C: Amo fotografias desde criança. A arte que crio é aproveitar as minhas fotografias a preto e branco e pintá-las à mão com tinta de óleo ou aquarelas. Também escrevi um livro sobre esta técnica chamada “Mixed Emulsions: Altered Art Techniques for Photographic Imagery". SWCP: Fale-nos acerca da sua participação na famosa série `Perdidos no Espaço´.
A.C: Realmente gostei de encarnar a Penny Robinson. Pensava em como seria excitante retratar uma família no espaço que explorava novos mundos e encontrava alienígenas. A Penny era aventureira e curiosa. Gostei disso nela.
SWCP: Qual foi a sua reação quando soube que tinha sido a escolhida para o papel da Brigitta Von Trapp em `The sound of music´?
A.C: Fiquei muito emocionada por ter obtido o papel da Brigitta e adorei fazer esse filme. Cantando e dançando e brincando com outras crianças enquanto filmávamos em Salzburgo na Áustria com a Julie Andrews. Como não gostar disso? E logo estar num filme que comoveu tantas pessoas. É uma honra ter feito parte de tal filme.
SWCP: Que mensagem gostaria de enviar aos seus fãs?
A.C: Eu gostaria de dizer a todos os fãs de the Sound of Music sobre o nosso novo livro chamado The Sound of Music Family Scrapbook. SWCP: At the age of 3, you have your film debut in `Somebody up there likes me´ as Paul Newman´s daughter. Can you remind yourself of something in this movie?
A.C: I was only 3 when I made this movie and it was not until later that I realized how cool it was to play Paul Newm an’s daughter. Another coincidence is that Somebody Up There Likes Me was not only Newman’s first film, but my first movie as well and it was directed by Robert Wise who later cast me as Brigitta in The Sound of Music.
SWCP: In 1981 you wrote an acclaimed book (My Book: A Child´s first journal).Was it a book dedicated to your childhood?
A.C: I wrote this book when I was pregnant with my daughter Becca. It was a book for parents to fill in baby’s first’s and have lots of room for photographs to be placed in it.
SWCP: You´re also a photographer. What kind of works do you do?
A.C: I love photographs and have since I was a small child. The art I create is by taking my black and white photographs and hand painting them with oil paint or watercolors. I also wrote a book about this technique called “Mixed Emulsions: Altered Art Techniques for Photographic Imagery.

SWCP: Tell us about your participation in the famous series `Lost in Space´.
A.C: I did enjoy playing the part of Penny Robinson. I thought how exciting it would be to portray a family in space exploring new worlds and encountering aliens. Penny was adventurous and curious. I liked that about her.
SWCP: What was your reaction when you heard that you had been chosen for the role of Brigitta Von Trapp in `The sound of music´?
A.C: I was thrilled to get the part of Brigitta and I totally enjoyed making this movie. Singing and dancing and playing with other kids while running around Salzburg, Austria with Julie Andrews. How could you not enjoy that? And then to be in a film that has touched so many people. It’s an honor to be part of such a film.
SWCP: What message would you like to leave for y our fans?
A.C: I would like to tell all the Sound of Music fans about our brand new book called The Sound of Music Family Scrapbook. If you are a fan of the movie you will love this book because it tells our story about making the movie.
