Entrevistas SWCP: Tempany Deckert

Participou em diversos filmes e séries como “Home & Away”, “The Secret Life of Us”, “All Saints”, entre outros.

An author, actress, playwright and public speaker, Tempany Deckert loves telling stories in many mediums. She participated in several films and tv series such as `Home & Away´, `The Secret Life of Us´, `And all the Saints´, among others.

SWCP: You dressed up as Princess Leia once, for a TV show publicity. How did you feel when you were in the “skin” of one of the most iconic characters in the movies history?
T.D: It was very surreal as the last time I had seen Star Wars was when I was five. All I could remember were the Ewoks! But since then, I have checked all the films out again and love them so much. I consider the wisdom of Star Wars to be the only religion anyone needs to follow.

SWCP: You write fiction novels and 18 works of yours were already published by Random House, Scholastic and Macmillan. What kind of inspiration do you get to do your works?
T.D: I usually get an idea from a small moment in time. I'll see a kid talking about something, or read an article about a strange character and that starts growing and growing until a full story has formed. I usually think about these stories for quite a long time before I start writing them. By the time I actually sit down to the laptop, I've usually been thinking about them for at least a year.

SWCP: You have been travelling to hundreds of schools encouraging kids to follow their dreams and coaching many young writers into completing their first novel. Why is that work so important to you?
T.D: Story is the best way we can communicate and reach out to each other. It makes us feel connected and part of something bigger than ourselves. Story can help kids and adults alike work through problems they are having in their every day life. I love seeing them create stories from their subconscious and realize after the fact, that is helped them answer big questions about the world. There is nothing more exciting than helping people create their own stories.

SWCP: What is your goal as an actress?
T.D: To collaborate with wonderful writers and directors to tell a great story that inspires and ignites an audience.

SWCP: What was the movie that gave you more joy to work?
T.D: I loved working with Michael Bates on a stop motion humanimation film for AFTRS (Australian Film Television and Radio School). It was all about a young actress who got chewed up and spit out by the film industry. It was magical, moving and fascinating. I loved getting to work in a different way to regular film making. Stop motion is very powerful and focused.

SWCP: Would you like to leave a message for your fans?
T.D: I appreciate all the support my fans have given me over the years and I plan to write many more wonderful books and perform many fun and interesting characters to inspire and entertain them.
