James August Smith é um duplo cuja especialidade são as cenas de ação com veículos em filmes e espetáculos ao vivo.

SWCP: Como surgiu o interesse por esta especialidade (piloto/duplo)?

J.S: Fazendo os mesmos truques que eu via na tela no início dos anos 80, com algumas dessas pessoas é assombroso! Todos nós temos heróis, e fazer o mesmo que eles é fantástico.

SWCP: A sua especialidade favorita é o Ski Car. Porquê?

J.S: As acrobacias do Ski Car são muito técnicas, é necessário estar focado e ter muita persistência. É um outro nível total de concentração e muito recompensador quando você 'o prega' na câmara ou em frente a uma multidão.

SWCP: Foi o duplo do “Bumblebee” em Transformers.Fale-nos um pouco desse seu trabalho.

J.S: Fiz a cena das duas rodas para o Bumblebee e outros colegas fizeram o resto da sua condução. A noite das duas rodas foi difícil com um asfalto muito oleoso, entrando num túnel escuro, tentando não danificar o único carro disponível que tínhamos para essa cena!

SWCP: O que o cativou mais nas clássicas séries televisivas como Três Duques, O Justiceiro ou A Team?

J.S: Saltos de carros, acrobacias com duas rodas, e deslizes são os ingredientes principais dos filmes (na minha opinião) e todas as minhas séries favoritas tiveram isso.

SWCP: Quer deixar algumas dicas para aqueles que gostariam de enveredar por uma carreira como a sua?

J.S: Bem... O modo mais fácil de chegar a este meio é: 'Nasça com a família correta ‘ou... Estar ligado às pessoas que estão neste ramo. Pode ser um caminho muito difícil com muitas alturas negativas e frustrações ao longo do caminho. Mas quando existe paixão por algo, há alguns grandes momentos nisto.

James August Smith is a working stuntman whose specialty is car stunts in movies, series and live shows.

SWCP: How did the passion for this job comes up?

J.S: Doing the same stunts that I saw on screen in the early 1980's, with some of the same people is amazing! We all have heroes, and stepping in to do the same job with them is great.

SWCP: Your favorite stunt is the Ski Car. Why?

J.S: The "ski" stunt is very technical, it takes focus and persistence. It is a whole another level of concentration and very rewarding when you "nail" it on camera or in front of a crowd.

 

SWCP: You were the stunt driver "Bumblebee “in `Transformers’. Tell us a bit more about this work of yours.

J.S: I did the 2 wheel for Bumble bee and a few others did the rest of Bumble bee's driving. The night of the two wheel was difficult with a Very lumpy asphalt, going into a dark tunnel, and not wrecking the only car we set up for the stunt!

SWCP: What captivated you more in the classic television series such as The Dukes of Hazzard, Knight Rider and A Team?

J.S: Car jumps, two wheel, and sliding cars is the major ingredients for motion picture (in my opinion) and all my favorite shows had that.

SWCP: Would you like to leave any tips for those who want to follow a career as yours?

J.S: Well... the easiest way to get in the biz is, "be born in the right family" :) or... be connected with people that are connected in the business. It can be a Very hard road with many let downs and frustrations along the way. But with passion for something, there are some great moments in that.
