Entrevistas SWCP: Tina Simmons

Tina Simmons é uma actriz Britânica que participou em diversos filmes como  O Cavaleiro das Trevas,Espiões,Red II,entre outros.Em Star Wars: O Regresso de Jedi,interpretou o papel de uma técnica da base dos rebeldes.

SWCP: Fale-nos do seu trabalho em Star Wars VI.

T.S: O meu personagem era uma técnica rebelde em 'Return of the Jedi' episódio VI.Eu estava no `Interior do centro de comando da fragata na principal sala de reuniões´. Os personagens Han Solo, princesa Leia e Chewbacca estiveram nessa mesma cena. Havia uma boa atmosfera em conjunto, especialmente quando o ator Billy Dee Williams que interpretou o Lando Clarissian chegou.  Ele disse umas piadas e foi divertido estar lá ao pé dele.
Eu estava posicionada perto do C-3PO, interpretado pelo Anthony Daniels.O  Anthony sentia-se desconfortável no seu traje de metal.  Era muito mais fácil ao R2-D2, interpretado pelo saudoso Kenny Baker,já que a parte superior do Droid saía com facilidade.A Carrie Fisher era amigável.Tive uma conversa com ela e com o seu noivo,o Paul Simon (de Simon e Garfunkel) que visitou o set.Eu era uma grande fã de Simon e Garfunkel.
O diretor Richard Marquand tinha uma visão clara da cena.Ele foi ajudado pelo diretor assistente, David Tomblin, um dos melhores assistentes de realização na indústria cinematográfica.

SWCP: Se voltasse a ser convidada a participar em Star Wars,que tipo de personagem gostaria de interpretar?

T.S:  Gostaria de voltar a interpretar um técnico rebelde, ou regressar como um parente perdido da Princesa Leia.

SWCP: Na sua página do Facebook,vemos várias fotos tuas com celebridades da sétima arte.Lembra-se de alguma situação incomum ou engraçada que tenha ocorrido com alguma delas durante esses encontros?

T.S: Alguns anos atrás,trabalhei num filme chamado 'Survivor' com o Pierce Brosnan.  Ele foi muito gentil com toda a gente,então no dia seguinte tirei uma foto dele comigo.Esta foto foi tirada no filme de Televisão 'A Volta ao mundo em oitenta dias' há muitos anos. Quando eu mostrei ao Pierce a foto, ele ficou encantado.Ele tem uma multidão de pessoas, incluindo o diretor e assistente de direção a olhar por ele.O Pierce agradeceu-me por ter trazido a foto.Ele é um homem encantador.

SWCP: Constatámos que há um grande convívio entre actores britânicos da trilogia clássica de Star Wars nas convenções.Criaram-se de facto vários elos de amizade entre vós?

T.S:  Só comecei a participar em convenções recentemente.Pediram-me para participar há cerca de quatorze anos, mas no momento eu não estava disponível aos fins de semana. Gostei de conhecer os atores ingleses e americanos da trilogia de 'Star Wars', especialmente alguns velhos amigos que não via há muitos anos. Há uma verdadeira camaradagem e amizade entre nós.

SWCP: Que diferenças quer realçar entre os filmes da trilogia clássica e os mais recentes?

T.S: Na trilogia original de 'Star Wars', os cenários eram todos reais.  Não havia nada de tecnologia avançada e imagens geradas em computador (CGI) não eram usadas,ao contrário dos filmes de hoje.

SWCP: Que mensagem gostaria de enviar aos fãs de Star Wars?

T.S: Gostei de trabalhar em "O regresso de Jedi". Sinto-me orgulhosa por ter estado envolvida num filme tão icónico. Também gosto de conhecer todos os fãs de 'Star Wars', que me fazem sentir tão bem-vinda. Já visitei o Algarve algumas vezes, mas gostaria de ver mais do vosso país. Os portugueses são muito amistosos.

Tina Simmons a British actress known for her work on Batman: The dark knight,Espions,Red II,among others.In Star Wars:Return of the Jedi,she played the role of a rebel technician.

SWCP: Tell us about your work on Star Wars VI.

T.S: My character was a Rebel Technician in 'Return of the Jedi' .  I was in the 'Interior of the Headquarters Frigate in the Main Briefing Room'. The characters Han Solo, Princess Leia and Chewbacca were in the same scene. There was a good atmosphere on set, especially when the actor Billy Dee Williams who played Lando Clarissian arrived.  He told a few jokes, and was fun to be around.

I was positioned near C-3PO, played by Anthony Daniels.  Anthony was uncomfortable in his metal suit.  It was a lot easier for R2-D2, played by the late Kenny Baker, as the top of the Droid came off easily. Carrie Fisher was friendly.  I had a chat with her, and her fiancé Paul Simon (of Simon and Garfunkel) who  visited the set.  I was a big fan of Simon and Garfunkel.
The director Richard Marquand had a clear vision of the scene.  He was helped by Assistant Director, David Tomblin, one of the best Assistants in the film business.

SWCP: If you ever be invited to participate in Star Wars again, what kind of character would you like to play?

T.S: I would like to play a 'Rebel Technician' again, or return as a long lost relative of Princess Leia.

SWCP: On your Facebook page, we've seen many photos of you with celebrities of the seventh art. Do you remember any unusual or funny situation that occurred with them during these meetings?

T.S: A few years ago I worked on a film called 'Survivor' with Pierce Brosnan.  He was very nice to everyone, so the following day I bought in a photo of him and I.  This photo was taken on the TV film 'Around the World in Eighty Days' many years ago. When I showed Pierce the photo, he was delighted to see it.  He got a crowd of people, including the director and assistant director to look at it.  Pierce thanked me for bringing the photo in to show him.  He's a charming man.

SWCP: We realised that there is a great conviviality between British actors of the classic Star Wars trilogy in the conventions. In fact,were created several links of friendship among yourselves?

T.S: I've only started to attend Conventions recently.  I was asked about fourteen years ago, but at the time I wasn't available at weekends. I've enjoyed meeting the English and American actors from the 'Star Wars' trilogy, especially some old friends that I haven't seen for many years. There's a real camaraderie and friendship among us.

SWCP: Which differences would you want to highlight between the classic trilogy movies and the latest?

T.S: In the original 'Star Wars' trilogy, the sets were all real.  It was not technical, and Computer Generated Imagery (CGI) was not used, unlike in today's films.

SWCP: What message would you like to send for Star Wars fans?

T.S: I enjoyed working on 'Return of the Jedi'. I'm proud to be involved in such an iconic film. I also enjoy meeting all the 'Star Wars' fans, who make me feel so welcome.
I have visited the Algarve a few times, but would like to see more of the country. The Portuguese are very friendly.
