Entrevistas SWCP: Holt McCallany

O ator e produtor Holt McCallany tem participado em vários filmes e séries como: Gangster Squad,Heroes,CSI: Miami,Monk,Alien III,entre outros.

SWCP: Aos 14 anos de idade, fugiu de casa, tendo apanhado um autocarro para Los Angeles a fim de perseguir o seu sonho de se tornar um ator.O que o motivou a aspirar a uma carreira como ator desde muito jovem?

H.M: Os meus pais eram ambos atores. Eles trabalharam principalmente na Broadway, mas a minha mãe participou também em alguns filmes nos anos 50.Um deles era um filme chamado "Esta poderia ser a noite" com a sua amiga íntima Neile McQueen que estava casada com a grande estrela do cinema americano Steve McQueen. Eu achava que o Steve era a cara mais fixe do mundo. E queria ser como ele, então apanhei um autocarro para Hollywood para tentar me tornar um ator.

SWCP: Fale-nos do seu trabalho no filme Alien 3.

H.M: Alien 3 foi o primeiro filme do lendário diretor David Fincher. Também foi o meu primeiro grande filme. Filmámos durante cinco meses em Londres e foi uma experiência incrível. Alguns anos mais tarde, o David ofereceu-me um papel em “Clube de combate “com o Brad Pitt e o Edward Norton, um dos meus filmes favoritos. 

SWCP: Está actualmente a trabalhar no filme `Run all night´em que contracena com o Liam Neeson.Que balanço faz desse projecto?

H.M: Venho de uma família irlandesa do lado do meu pai e "Run All Night"é um filme sobre gangsters irlandeses em Nova Iorque, então eu tinha que estar nele. Também adorei o Liam Neeson tanto como ator como pessoa.

SWCP: Tem trabalhado com inúmeras celebridades da indústria cinematográfica como Brad Pitt,Liam Neeson,Nick Nolte,Sean Penn,entre outros. Lembra-se de alguma situação engraçada com algum desses atores durante as filmagens? 

H.M: No filme "Gangster Squad"o Sean Penn pediu-me para vir para o seu trailer dizendo-me que era "muito importante". Estava a tentar descobrir o que poderia ser. Quando cheguei ao seu trailer ofereceu-me uma vodka! Eu disse "é por isso que você queria me ver?" Ele respondeu: "às vezes uma boa vodka é muito importante." O Sean é muito divertido para se trabalhar com ele.

SWCP: Interpretou o papel de um pugilista alcoólico e revoltado em `Lights Out´.É um aficionado do boxe? Que preparação teve para este papel?

H.M: "Lights Out" foi o meu melhor papel. Eu tenho uma paixão pelo boxe. Foi tão maravilhoso estar no ginásio todos os dias com todos os lutadores a treinar-me como um pugilista profissional. Eu até fiz uma luta amadora para testar as minhas habilidades e venci. 

SWCP: Que mensagem gostaria de enviar aos seus fãs?

H.M: Estou muito grato aos meus fãs em todo o mundo pelo vosso apoio. Por favor, vejam o novo filme do Michael Mann que tem como estrela principal o Chris Hemsworth e que vai sair ainda este ano. É um ótimo filme e eu tenho uma boa participação nele. Espero que os meus fãs se divirtam com esse filme.

The american actor and producer Holt McCallany,participated in several films and series such as: Gangsters Squad, Alien III,Heroes,CSI:Miami,Monk,among others.

SWCP: When you had fourteen years old, you ran away from home and took a bus to L.A to pursue your dream of becoming an actor. What motivated you to pursue this dream?

H.M: My parents were both actors. They worked mostly on Broadway but my mother made a few films in the 1950's. One of them was a movie called "This Could be the Night" with her close friend Neile McQueen who was married to the great American movie star Steve McQueen. I thought Steve was the coolest guy in the world. I wanted to be like him, so I took a bus to Hollywood to try to become an actor. 

SWCP: Tell us about your work on `Aliens 3´?

H.M: Alien 3 was the first film from legendary director David Fincher. It was also my first big film. We shot for five months in London and it was an incredible experience. A couple of years later David offered me a role in "Fight Club" with Brad Pitt and Edward Norton, one of my favorite films.

SWCP: You are currently filming `Run all night´ with Liam Neeson.What balance do you make of this project?

H.M: I come from an Irish family on my father's side and "Run All Night" is about Irish gangsters in New York so I had to be in it. Also I really like Liam Neeson as an actor and a person. 

SWCP: You have worked with several celebrities from the movies industry such as Brad Pitt, Sean Penn, Nick Nolte, Liam Neeson, among many others. Do you remember of any funny situation with some of them, during filming?

H.M: On the film "Gangster Squad" Sean Penn asked me to come to his trailer one day, he said it was "very important". I was trying to figure out what it could be. When I got to his trailer he offered me a vodka tonic! I said "this is why you wanted to see me?" He replied "sometimes a good vodka tonic is very important." Sean can be a lot of fun to work with. 

SWCP: You played the role of an aging, punch-drunk fighter on `Lights Out’. Are you a fan of boxing? What kind of preparation did you have for this role?

H.M: "Lights Out" was my best role. I have a long love affair with the sport of boxing. It was so amazing to be in the gym every day with all the fighters and training like a professional boxer. I even took an amateur fight to test my skills and I won.

SWCP: Would you like to leave a message for your fans?

H.M: I'm very grateful to my fans all over the world for their support. Please see the new Michael Mann film starring Chris Hemsworth that will come out later this year. It's a great movie and I have a really good part. I hope my fans will enjoy it.
