Entrevistas SWCP: Jasper Jacobs

SWCP: Também ensinou canto na escola teatral “Go for it”.Como foi essa experiência?

ENGLISH VERSION:
The British actor Jasper Jacobs played the role of Captain Yorr, an imperial officer on Star Wars: Episode VI. We were allowed to do four questions only, but that served to get to know a little better this actor.
SWCP: Tell us about your work on Star Wars.
J.J: It was a long time ago (in a Galaxy far Away...) but I was on the film for 2 days, working on the huge non sound studio at Elstree(?) All the Star Wars air craft were there waiting to be filmed against the blue (or was it green) screen and it was a time when all the cast were there, looking a bit tired and fed up as I remember. Mark Hamill thought was charming and really helpful, showing me clever things to do on the controls of the Shuttle. I was nervous because after a weekend of trying to memorize my line it had not really sunk in. Richard Marquand was reassuring: don't

worry Jasper, it's only a movie! The shots were completed by the assistant director as Richard moved around supervising other actions. The only other thing I recall was that it took an hour to pull my boots on with all the wardrobe artists lending a hand. I had a feeling that they would never be seen and they weren't!
SWCP: You studied music at Cambridge.Subsequently, you turned to the stage. How did the opportunity to come to work in movies and TV shows?
J.J: I began acting in 1970 and had some help at the start as my mother was a well known film actress Kathleen Byron, who starred in a number of Powell and Pressburger films but I guess that would interest a different club!

SWCP: You also teach singing at the "Go for it" theatre school. How it was this experience?
J.J: I have taught music and drama for most of my career since leaving Cambridge; most British actors need a second profession to keep them going. I'm currently working with a school to produce a big Christmas Concert and then a production of Little Women. I like to use what musical talent I have.
SWCP: Would you like to send a message for Star Wars fans?
J.J: I sometimes sign of with
"Deactivate the Security Shield" but I don't know how inspiring that is. Hope you all enjoy the next films.
Yours Jasper Jacob
